The UC Berkeley Chief Technology Officer, located in Berkeley IT’s Business Operations, leads strategic technology initiatives, often focusing on planning, technology roadmaps, innovation, digital transformation, and building a connected campus. The goal of this website is to share information and engage directly with students, faculty and staff! I’m interested in hearing from you about your ideas on emergent and established standards, innovation, designs for IT architectures so we can work together to make UC Berkeley even better and more effective.

Of course this is Berkeley – simplistic, one-size-fits-all approaches do not always work. As the CTO, I am focused on helping us navigate change and complexity, simplifying where possible, and promoting easier, faster, innovative and cheaper solutions to the challenges we face as an institution. Any reasonable approach to this starts by taking the time to understand your goals, pain points, and challenges. We aim to cultivate a shared vision and architectural standards that support and enable the University’s strategic goals.
Mission
We bring together people, process, technology and information to make the world a better place - starting at UC Berkeley. Standardization wherever possible, differentiation where it matters!
