FY20 Awardee Profile: VRTutor
VRTutor will help students of studio-based art and design classes learn virtually. Existing VR applications offer rich immersive environments for students, however students need to transition between wearing their headsets to use VR software, then take them off again to follow video tutorials on bCourses or join Zoom calls. The resulting friction causes users to abandon the technologies. Furthermore, many different VR software don’t follow standardized technology. This team has designed software that sits between VR applications and operating systems to inject interactive graphical overlays that allow students to work within the VR system for other activities, such as viewing tutorials, or working on a whiteboard.
